America’s Cycles of Change

The Real Threats to the Human Race

Thu, 08 December 2016

The greatest single immediate pollution threat to our world is the mass expansion of our own species: The human race reached 1 billion people in 1830. It had taken us hundreds of thousands of years to get there. We doubled that number in a mere century. Today we are 7.3 billion and growing fast. Population control is absolutely essential and urgent and we aren’t doing it. The Catholic Church, the Islamic world and the Protestant fundamentalists are all flatly opposed to the idea.

Global Climate change is not only very real – It is generating enormous movements around the world from mass African immigration in Europe to the flood of Central Americans and Mexicans into the US and it caused the Syrian civil war and the Chinese economic takeovers of Africa and South America.

But since NASA has documented the melting of the ice caps on Mars since 2007 – and been discouraged from publicizing it by the Obama administration – there really isn’t much we can do about that. Reducing carbon footprints is fatuous.

All of this fades compared with the dangers of nuclear war. The Doomsday Clock of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists has pushed the threat level up to only three minutes before midnight. Obama let relations with Russia collapse to their most dangerous state since the Cuban missile crisis and was characteristically lazy, complacent and ignorant about the danger. Trump does recognize it, but much depends on whom he will choose as his secretary of state.
