America’s Cycles of Change

America’s Disastrous Wrong Turn Since 9/11

Sun, 11 September 2016

The terror attacks of September 11, 2001 were a wake-up call to America. America promptly woke up and charged off — in the wrong direction.

In the 15 years since 19/11, the United States has been creating chaos and destabilization across the Muslim world, throughout the Middle East and Central Asia.

We have deliberately toppled or encouraged the toppling or weakening of the governments of Yemen, Egypt, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq and Iraq all in the name of democracy.

Instead we got Islamic fundamentalism, still fiercely established over more than half of Iraq, half of Syria and rapidly growing regions of Libya.

Egypt was lost to the Islamic Muslim Brotherhood, the Ikhwan in 2011 and it was only a military coup – ironically clearly supported at the time and since by most of the Egyptian people – that drove them out.

Fifteen years ago after 9/11, George W. Bush, probably the most stupid president in US history, was taken totally by surprise by the attacks and accepted all the wrong answers in responding to them.

His successor Barack Obama elected to end the Bush era and start a new chapter in US history, instead stuck to all the worst policies of the old one.

This is the real heritage of 9/11. Things have become far worse, not better, under the old generation of leaders, both Republican and Democrat.

Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump in this election were both the kind of prophetic precursors I describe and explain in my 2015 book Cycles of Change.

Sanders, to his everlasting shame, folded his tent and supported Hillary Clinton, the candidate of the Old Establishment when he had other, better, more heroic and more honorable options. Odds are still Trump will lose.

But if Nothing Changes in the election of 2016, Everything will Change after it.

My other – darker – new book Gathering Storm available at www.MartinSieff.com and on Amazon-Kindle, explains why.
